Ocean Cruises

Royal Caribbean®, Carnival Cruise Line®, and Celebrity Cruises®, three very different cruise styles, hundreds of sailings, and pricing that changes constantly. My job is matching the line, ship, and cabin to your group instead of just the cheapest fare on a screen.

The three lines, honestly compared

  • Royal Caribbean®

The biggest ships at sea, including the Icon- and Oasis-class ships, water parks, surf simulators, ice shows, and entire neighborhoods on board. Strong for families and groups who want the ship itself to be the destination.

  • Carnival Cruise Line®

The most budget-friendly of the three, with a lively, casual atmosphere, lots of sailings from U.S. home ports, and ships like the Excel-class Mardi Gras, Celebration, and Jubilee.

  • Celebrity Cruises®

A step up in dining, design, and quiet, the Edge-class ships especially. Popular with couples, adults traveling together, and Alaska itineraries.

  • Private islands & ports

Royal Caribbean's Perfect Day at CocoCay, Carnival's Celebration Key (opened 2025), plus classic ports across the Caribbean, Bahamas, Alaska, and Mexican Riviera.

Who it suits best

  • Great for: friend and family groups, reunions, celebrations, and travelers who want meals, entertainment, and lodging bundled into one price.
  • Know before you go: the advertised fare is rarely the full cost: drink packages, excursions, Wi-Fi, and gratuities add up, and I price them in up front.

What Joseph helps with

  • Comparing lines and ships for your group, dates, and budget, with the full cost, not just the headline fare
  • Cabin category and location, including groups who need rooms near each other
  • Deposits, payment deadlines, and watching for price drops or promos that apply to your booking

Family tips

  • The ship matters more than the itinerary. On a 3- or 4-night sailing, most of your vacation happens on board, pick the ship first.
  • Fly in the day before. Same rule as Disney cruises: never trust a same-day flight to a sailing.
  • Balconies aren't always the answer. For some groups, inside cabins for the kids across the hall stretch the budget much further.

How I’d plan it

Ocean cruises are where a family gets the most vacation per decision. One booking covers the room, the food, and the entertainment, so the planning is really about picking the right ship and the right week.

My take: for most families the ship matters more than the ports. Kids remember the waterslides and the kids club longer than a four hour port stop. Pick the ship your family will love and let the itinerary be the bonus.

The one piece of homework that pays off is booking dining and show reservations as soon as they open for your sailing. Everything else onboard can stay loose.
